VCS

Peterborough’s voluntary sector has a major contribution to make to the achievement of our vision of a bigger and better Peterborough.  Whether that is through the work of local charities who are deliberately commissioned by partners such as NHS Peterborough to supply services (such as drugs advice and prevention services) or through the efforts of the countless volunteers working as school governors, conservation volunteers or simply lending a helping hand in their communities, the sector is at the heart of our agenda for Peterborough.

The partners in the Greater Peterborough Partnership explicitly recognise and value this contribution.  Members of the sector meet every quarter as part of the GPP’s Voluntary and Community Sector Group, chaired by Lindsey Burrows-Howe of Peterborough Drugs Service, to discuss how they contribute to the Sustainable Community Strategy and to ensure that their voice is at the heart of our work.  The GPP also actively supports the work of the Peterborough Compact – a code of conduct for relations between the statutory partners and the voluntary sector and seeks to encourage all partners not only to sign up to the Compact but to ensure its values are respected across their organisation.

If you would like to know more about how voluntary organisations can contribute to the work of the Greater Peterborough Partnership and be more closely involved in its activities, then contact Sarah Fletcher on 01733 342683 or visit the web pages of the VCS Group.
